Homeshare Australia and New Zealand Alliance (HANZA) is the peak body for Homeshare and its providers in Australia and New Zealand, advocating for the development of Homeshare in the region.

HANZA advocates for the development of Homeshare across Australia and New Zealand and seeks to build awareness and support for homesharing. Homeshare arrangements play a vital role in delivering viable, affordable and sustainable housing options.

HANZA was established in 2000 and incorporated in 2010. We are a member of Homeshare International, a global organisation representing Homeshare programs in eighteen countries. https://homeshare.org

OUR MISSION

To promote, advocate for, and support homesharing as a professionally facilitated, mutually beneficial living arrangement that provides companionship, support, and affordable accommodation.

Homeshare offers supportive living arrangements which are mutually beneficial to householders and homesharers.

Homeshare provides a range of benefits to individuals and the community such as:

Positive personal, health and economic benefits to participants and to their families.
Inclusivity fostered from shared living arrangements.
Support of marginalised and vulnerable communities.
A greater sense of wellbeing and support.
A decrease in loneliness and isolation.
Cost savings in the provision of personal, physical and mental health services.
A reduced need for government supported and funded residential housing options.

WHAT IS HOMESHARE?

Homesharing is an arrangement where two or more people share a living space. Typically, a householder offers accommodation at a low cost in exchange for companionship and support. This support may include assistance with chores, social interaction, or simply providing a presence and company.
